Brev från Toronto

Det kom ett brev från Toronto som värmde
 Dear Councillors
It is with great pride that we in Canada appreciate your foresightedness and
farsightedness in declaring the schools in your jurisdiction closed on Eid ul Fitr
day to allow your students to celebrate the day with their families and community.
This is the first time that it has happened in the Western world and we commend you
for you caring and sharing attitude. As a teacher in a Public School, I was able to
get the administration to set aside a room and allow Muslim students to say their
noon prayers in our school in the suburbs of Toronto. On Eid ul Fitr day, Muslim
students were allowed to remain absent and later the whole Board of Education in
York Region postponed exams or tests on that day to accommodate Muslim students. On
their return the next day, the Muslim students held a party for representatives of
each class and shared the sumptuous dishes and explained about their celebrations.
Herewith, I attach an article on Eid Celebrations in Toronto.
May God bless you for your efforts in promoting interfaith understanding in your area.
With best wishes

Tänk att det betyder så mycket att vi valt att ge eleverna två dagar ledigt i oktober istället för i september...
